The last week!  Its been a great 8 weeks.  Looking forward to seeing you for the final day.  A few important things for you

  • Shirts (and socks/shorts if you have them) MUST be handed back this week.  Ensure you bring a change of shirt/shorts.  You can hand them in at the gate or the canteen.  Make sure your name is checked off the list!!
  • Junior A and B – there will be a free sausage sizzle after your respective games.  See you there 😊
  • Tickets are only available until COB on Saturday for the Senior Celebration evening.  It is on Friday 16 October at the Commercial Club.  $40 per head for a two course sit down meal. You can pay by Bank transfer to “Hockey Albury Wodonga”, BSB: 640000, Number: 111041201, Reference: Your name, or pay at the canteen on Saturday.  No bookings after this Saturday!!
  • Singlets are available for pick up at the canteen.  Congratulations to Dan Moore for the catch phrase “Against the Odds in 2020”.
  • Grand Final draw for the Premier teams is now on the web.   If there is a draw at the conclusion of the game – see the bottom of the draw for the Rules.  There are only finals in the Premier divisions – the other grades just continue with the round robin.
  • This week there is limited alcohol sold from the canteen if you are interested in purchasing a beverage.  Note that alcohol will only be sold during senior matches (from 1pm)
  • Canteen leftover goods will be sold below cost.  See Sherren in the canteen on a great deal on boxed lollies or UHT milk.

And remember – stay CoVid safe at all times! – Social distance, Wash your hands, Sanitise!

We are going to celebrate!
a. For Seniors - Friday 16 October there will be celebration dinner at the Commercial Club. Due to restriction there is a limit of 94 persons so it is first in best dressed for this great night. Tickets are available at the canteen on Saturday for $40 per head for a two course sit down meal.
b. For Juniors - For those in Junior A and Junior B there will be a sausage sizzle and all players will get a sausage in bread and a Zooper-Dooper to celebrate after their final game on October 10.

The canteen is extending its menu to use up product that we have in the freezers. Now that Sherren is a master of Jam Donuts and Potato Cakes, we are adding Battered Savs and Hotdogs to her repertoire. That is along with the lollies, soft drinks and Zooper-Doopers. So pop by the canteen.

Photos!! We have had Gordon and Narelle taking great photos every week of all grades. If you would like to see them, click on the link above.

Saturday 3 October should see the arrival our singlets and the announcement of the catch phrase 😊

There is a slight change in the draw for the Final week of the competition. The Grand final of the mens match will be played after the grand final of the womens match. Check the draw for times. There are only finals in the Premier divisions – the other grades just continue with the round robin.

And remember – stay CoVid safe at all times! – Social distance, Wash your hands, Sanitise!

Your single point of truth is this website. Team lists, the draw and rules are above. Any new players have been added to the team lists.

Representative coach Stuart Morrison is setting up development training and drills on field 2 while Junior B is playing. All Junior A and any players new to the sport are welcome to make the most of this opportunity.

To ensure that we are CoVid Safe please abide by the following:
1. The playing field must be entered by the small double gate in the field fence at the far north of both of the grounds (signs on these gates). Enter the dugout after the prior team leaves (and sanitises) the dugout,
2. Check in contact free using your mobile phone if possible – BUT if you don’t have your phone you must make sure your name is on the sign in sheet, and
3. And please remain socially distanced when not on the playing field.

Canteen:
• Will have some soft drinks and water for sale
• We are selling off the leftover dim sims and potato cakes (cooked). This will occur until all the product on hand is sold.
• There are quite a few other products left over from when we thought the canteen may operate. Come along and check out what we have available 😊

Premier Ladies – in an effort to even up the competition, the teams have been reworked a little. If you have been moved, please come with your shirt and socks in a bag and take it to the clubhouse and you will get your replacement shirt. Sorry for any inconvenience but it is all for quality hockey!

Representative coach Stuart Morrison is setting up development training and drills on field 2 while Junior B is playing. All Junior A and any players new to the sport are welcome to make the most of this opportunity – Thank you Stuart 😊

To ensure that we are as CoVid Safe as possible we have changed two things:
1. The playing field is now to be entered by the small double gate in the field fence at the far north of both of the grounds. You can then take your gear and lean it on the fence near your dugout and warm up while the prior team leaves (and sanitises) the dugout. There will be signs on the gates to show you where to go
2. Junior B will now play one longer game to minimise contact with other players
AND We encourage you to check in contact free using your mobile phone if possible

Canteen:
• Will be open for payment of fees
• We will from this week be selling off the leftover dim sims and potato cakes (cooked) – thanks Sherren. And this will occur each week until all the product on hand is sold. We will not be purchasing extra product.
• There are quite a few other products left over from when we thought the canteen may operate. These are all still in date except where marked. The list is here. If you wish to ensure that you get a particular product you can fill in the request form here and I will put it aside for you.

Competitions Committee

We are still striving to have some form of hockey for the remainder of the 2020 season.

A selection of club representatives, with the support of the Board are investigating options to keep members engaged, attract new players and have a bit of fun.

Border restrictions will be a challenge but we are hoping to cater for players on both sides of the border.

One of the more significant tasks will be the format, grading and team makeups.

We need you to register your interest in the following survey http://tinyurl.com/2020HAWSurvey

NOTE: Please pass on this detail to ANY friends or acquaintances you know. Everyone is welcome.

We will ask you for a more formal commitment before getting things underway but please nominate now.

Regards
